BMI Calculator

Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) from your height and weight, in metric or imperial units. BMI is a general screening measure, not a diagnosis — it does not account for muscle mass, age, or body composition, so use it as a rough starting point rather than a complete picture of health.

How BMI is calculated

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Standard WHO classification: under 18.5 is underweight, 18.5–24.9 is normal, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30+ is obese.

An important limitation

BMI is a general population screening measure, not a diagnosis. It doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, age, or body composition — a muscular athlete can show a "high" BMI while being perfectly healthy. Use this as a rough starting point, and talk to a doctor for guidance specific to you.
